Cretanthos Bio Limited Edition Early Harvest Olive Oil from 1 Monumental Olive Tree older than 2500 years old

Our limited edition of Cretanthos Bio Early Harvest Olive Oil is produced from only 1 monumental olive tree. It consists in essence of 4 united millenarian olive trees of different varieties. This is certified from the DNA TEST we carried out on each of them. Subsequently, all of them are located in the UNESCO’S certified Cretanthos Olive Park and Olive Museum in Aggeliana, North Mylopotamos, Crete. The oldest of the 4 (which forms the main part of their trunk) is more than 2500 years old.

Special production process

In this particular tree the harvesting of the olives is operated carefully by hands and only from specific parts of the tree, in order to avoid any ‘damage’ and breakage of branches. This process starts early in late September to select only the best unripe, green olives. This, combined with the age of the olive tree, results in the production of an extremely small quantity of early harvest olive oil with high antioxidant profile. In every production year (some times it takes 2 years to produce again) the 60% of it’s annual production is purchased by a well-known pharmaceutical industry & used in a specific pharmaceutical research project cause it’s high anti-inflamatory properties. We produce by cold pressing, we filter, preserve and bottle by using the most stringent methods. It is bottled in Cretanthos’s modern & multi-certified (ISO 22000/2018) facilities. The entire process happens under protected atmosphere & only on demand. This process ensures that the product will reach the final consumer with very high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory profile.

As a product it is certified by the organic food organization DIO. It has been awarded continuously in international olive oil competitions for it’s quality and it’s high concentration of polyphenols as one of the best extra virgin olive oils of Greece.
